EMDR Therapy
Angela Sette, LCPC is an EMDR-trained clinician. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based approach to treating psychological stress through the use of bilateral stimulation of the brain. It is appropriate for children, teens and adults and has a wide range of uses. EMDR creates an optimal environment for the brain to process trauma memories and emotional states. When we experience trauma or disturbing life events, images and other sensations associated with that incident can become “stuck” in our nervous system. Similar to what our brains naturally do during REM sleep, the deepest part of sleep when our brains process all the unconscious information from our day, EMDR uses eye movements or other forms of dual attention stimulation to unlock the nervous system and help the mind and body fully process and store these “stuck" experiences. Rather than processing the experience through talking like in traditional therapy, your brain will be healing the painful experiences through its own natural processes. Some of the appropriate applications for EMDR include:- Trauma & PTSD
- Mood Disorders
- Anxiety
- Low Self-Esteem
- Performance EnhancementVisit Emdria.org to find out more information about EMDR and the evidence supporting its effectiveness.Call or email today to discuss whether EMDR may be right for you or your child.
Grief Counseling
The experience of grieving the death of a loved one or any other profound personal loss is different for everyone. This extremely personal and unique emotional journey takes time and patience. Some will be able to return to a relatively normal life within 6 months while others may need a year or even many years to process the experience. Mental health conditions such as depression and other factors can complicate grief and make it difficult for some individuals to adjust to their new reality. In addition to physical exercise, social support, and self-care, professional bereavement counseling can be a helpful way to make sense of the complicated emotions associated with the grieving process.Angela Sette, LCPC has specialized education in thanatology, the study of death and dying, and has a passion for helping individuals through their own unique grieving process.Grief Counseling can be a helpful resource for those coping with:
- Accidental death
- Suicide
- Homicide
- End of life issues
- Terminal illness
- Chronic illness
- Pregnancy Loss
- PTSD
- Other personal losses such as divorce, moving, or estrangement from familyIf you or your child is experiencing difficulty adjusting to a loss, call or email today to schedule an appointment.

Angela Sette, LCPC provides an accepting environment for teens and older children to work through these issues. While providing a safe and confidential outlet, the therapeutic process also seeks to involve parents in creating a collaborative and supportive experience that allows the entire family to flourish and thrive.Angela Sette, LCPC treats teens and children (ages 10 yrs and up) and has experience with the following:

Insurance & Fees
As of July 1, 2021 I will no longer be in-network with ** Blue Cross Blue Shield** insurance or any other commercial insurance plan. Sessions will be self-pay and eligible for reimbursement with out-of-network benefits. Some clients go out-of-network by choice to ensure the highest degree of privacy, flexibility and control over their mental health treatment and permanent health record. We will decide collaboratively how often sessions occur, and the focus will be dictated by your needs and not the requirements of insurance.Reimbursement may be possible through your out-of-network benefits, medical spending, or health saving accounts. I recommend you explore this with your insurance provider prior to starting treatment, and I can provide Superbills and detailed invoices for insurance reimbursement purposes. If you would like to investigate the possibility of reimbursement for out-of-network coverage, please check your policy carefully and ask the following questions of your provider:
- Do I have mental health benefits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many mental health sessions per calendar year does my insurance plan cover?
- How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network mental health provider?
- How do I obtain reimbursement for therapy with an out-of-network provider?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician? Please note that I am currently not able to accept Medical Assistance.

FAQ's
What will it be like?
The first session may feel like you are being asked a lot of questions. Don’t worry! I’m just trying to gather as much information as I can to get to know you and understand your main concerns. Subsequent sessions dive deeper into these issues as we work together to plan out what you would like to get out of the therapy experience. Will I have to lie down on a couch?
Nope! Well, you can if you want to. It’s a no judgement zone. Can’t I just talk to my parents/friend/sister about my problems?
While I encourage my clients to have healthy support systems in place, whether it be family members or other social connections, coming to therapy offers some unique benefits. For one, therapy offers a safe and confidential environment to discuss sensitive information that you may not feel comfortable talking to your family or friends about. A therapist has special training to help address negative thinking and explore situations from an objective point of view. We can also provide additional resources and tools for coping with stress, anxiety, depression and any number of unpleasant life experiences that friends and family may be ill-equipped to handle. How do I pronounce your last name?
It's pronounced "Setty" like spaghetti.
